Hayley Frazer’s Enchanting Journey:
The Magical Tram Stop Project

September 2024 – Adelaide, South Australia

Introduction

Embark on a journey of wonder with Hayley Frazer’s Magical Tram Stop project. This initiative is not only a celebration of storytelling but also a shining example of how dyslexia and dysgraphia can fuel creativity. From May to October, experience Hayley’s series of 10 amazing tram stops, each narrating her courageous journey through dyslexia and dysgraphia to creative triumph.

Project Overview

These tram stops are more than just waiting points; they are gateways to imagination and learning, placed at schools, libraries, education settings, and people that have supported and inspired from days past. Along the way, you’ll meet some amazing people, each with their own inspiring stories that intertwine with the magical theme of the project. The project pays homage to her grandfather, beloved tram conductor 647, and serves as an introduction to her eagerly awaited book, ‘The Magical Tram.’ Inspired by the tales of her grandfather and the charm of history from days gone by, Hayley has crafted each stop to be a gateway to imagination and learning.

Historical Inspiration

Drawing inspiration from the historic H-class city to bay trams, which were known for their open cross bench cars and served as tourist cars in the early 20th century, The Magical Tram brings the charm of Adelaide’s tramway history to life. These trams were a symbol of innovation and community connection, much like the Magical Tram Stop project aims to be today.

Recognition and Awards

Awarded the Creative Community Award by the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Youth Achievement Awards, Hayley’s project stands as a testament to the support she’s received and the unique perspective she’s gained. Her mission is to empower others by transforming everyday tram stops into enchanting portals of art and storytelling.

Key Milestones

The adventure begins at the School of Mark Le Messurier, in tribute to her mentor and friend. Each participating tram stop will be provided with posters to partake in this captivating journey.

Mark Le Messurier is honoured to be the first stop. The Magical Tram, Tram conductor 647, and the special passengers will leave from ‘The School of Mark Le Messurier’ via the tracks of old Wayville tram stop, using the magic of the days of Municipal Tramways Trust of days past.

The journey will culminate at stop 10 with Blair Boyer, Member for Wright, who has been a great supporter of Hayley and her endeavours. His advocacy for education and the arts makes him a fitting end to this magical journey.
