The Magical Tram: Tram Stop 7 – The Creator Stop with Beth Sztekel

The Magical Tram, along with Tram Conductor 647 and the Special Passenger, the dog from Mitcham, are setting off from the City Depot. As 647 looks at the next stop, he is surprised to see on his roster ‘The Creator Stop’. With a turn of the destination sign, a little magic happens and The Magical Tram is transformed into a creative haven.

Ding ding! The familiar sound of the tram bell echoes through the air, reminiscent of the classic Bay tram. The wheels clatter along the tracks, creating a rhythmic clickety-clack that adds to the nostalgic charm.

“Ah, The Creator Stop!” exclaims 647. “This is where the magic truly happens.”

The Special Passenger, the dog from Mitcham, wags its tail enthusiastically. “Woof! I can’t wait to see what creative wonders await us here.”

If you look at trams from the past, you might recall popular Australian brands like Arnott’s Biscuits and Bushells Tea, which often had their advertisements displayed on trams. Creative arts have been around for a long time, and this is part of The Magical Tram narrative, combining history, photos, storytelling, and creative arts while exploring family heritage.

Hayley’s upcoming book, The Magical Tram, is a new venture for her as she will be illustrating her first-ever book. One of the reasons she is doing this is because of her wonderful Creative Arts teacher, Ms. Beth Sztekel. Hayley has had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Sztekel since Year 9, when she stage-managed the school production and spent many weekends with her fellow students and Ms. Sztekel preparing for the production back in 2019.

Ms. Sztekel has attended Hayley’s book launches and seen her grow as an author, artist, and individual. There have been many fine people supporting Hayley on her dyslexic journey, and there is one place Hayley loves to be in: the world of creativity. That is why Hayley dedicates Stop 7, The Creator Stop, to Ms. Beth Sztekel.

“Ms. Sztekel has been such an inspiration,” says 647. “It’s wonderful to see her influence celebrated here.”

The Special Passenger barks happily. “Woof! I hope she enjoys the creative challenge we’ve prepared for her.”

There is only one more thing to do at Stop 7: see if Ms. Sztekel would like to take up a Magical Tram creative challenge. They look forward to seeing Ms. Sztekel soon for a little bit of magic and creativity. Ding ding! Thank you for your inspiration, encouragement, creativity, and continuous support as this young creator brings her creative project to life!
